HOW TO HELP

When the Health Unit calls a heat alert, you need to be careful and take steps to protect yourself and others who might develop problems because of the extreme heat:

  • Stay informed about the local weather so you know when to take extra care.
  • Visit family members and neighbours who could be at risk.
  • Pay attention to how they feel and watch for symptoms of heat illness.
  • Follow this Health Canada link to learn more about heat illnesses.

If you would like to provide information about Heat Alerts and tips to Stay Cool, you can download printable campaign materials here.

If you have a specific request please contact Sahar Jamshidi, City of Windsor Environmental Coordinator at sjamshidi@city.windsor.on.ca, or Michael Janisse, Communications Resources Department Manager at mjanisse@wechealthunit.org.
